Bay of Plenty Hang gliding & Paragliding Association
Welcome, Kia ora
The BOP Hang Gliding and Paragliding Club has around 90 pilots and manages coastal sites and inland thermal flying sites in the BOP area. Some of these sites are on private land, or very sensitive landmarks, so it is essential that visiting pilots contact a club member before flying.
Club's purpose:
We aim to:
- promote the sports of hang gliding and paragliding
- facilitate and develop the relationships between pilots, the New Zealand Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association, the Civil Aviation Authority, the general public, the local authorities, the local IWIS and the flying sites owners.
- encourage the exchange of knowledge and information and ensure the adherence to the rules and regulations in order to promote safety and to secure our flying sites
Our sites include:
- Mount Maunganui (Mauao)
- Whakatane Heads
- Ohiwa
